There are many domain brokers popping up all over the internet. Their
terms can range. Some require the seller or buyer to pay a percentage
of the sale. Some charge a listing fee and a percentage. Some charge
a base sales fee plus a percentage. Any time you are thinking of buying
or selling, be certain to read the terms and conditions of sale and
listing or buying.
Just as in real estate, there are good brokers and poor brokers.
Do your research before you buy or sell with any of them.
In my idea, a broker is a person or company that will actively market
and try to sell your property. If they agree to take your domains
then they should also provide you with a brief synopsis of their marketing
strategy for you domains. If they have no strategy, then they
are not a broker.
So far, I have only found one company that appears to be actively marketing
domain names, but their terms and conditions are rather hard on the
person who is selling, and rightfully so since they are actually spending
their time and money to market your name. This Broker is www.SolutionHome.com.
Be certain to read their terms and conditions before you submit anything
to them. I have heard nothing good or bad about them so far, but
there is one site called www.DomainNameNews.com
that posted a survey of domain brokers and many rated www.solutionhome.com
very well. I would be interested to hear any reports good or bad
about them. I would gladly place them within this chapter.
Many others claim to be brokers and charge a percentage if they sell
a domain, but I have seen no evidence of their efforts to sell any domains,
with the exception of www.GreatDomains.com.
They are able to boast of a few large sales so far, but I have no idea
how much effort they actually put into the marketing of those domains.
Some of the domains that sold recently through them were already making
headlines when they picked them up as a broker.
The following claim to be brokers, use
your best discretion.
